Reflections regarding Monday July 29, 2024 to Tuesday July 30, 2024 in Reykjavík, Iceland
As we arrived, we went to the passport control and got out of the airport. We walked towards the bus and we saw a teacher who is working at a school where my mom was the principal. We walked onto the bus, there were a lot of seats and a tv in front of each seat (unfortunately, we couldn’t turn on the tv.) We passed a lot of volcanoes and craters. As I sat, I was thinking about what Iceland would be like. Would it be breathtaking or boring? I looked out the window now and then, taking pictures of the volcanoes and other cool sights. We got off the bus, grabbed our bags, and headed towards the baggage storage. We sat down for a little, and went to the bathroom. After That, we walked to breakfast and when I walked in I was overwhelmed with the smell of fresh bread and coffee. It was like a kid's dream. I ordered the waffle with whipped cream and syrup. It was AMAZING!!!!!!! As we ate, my brother started getting full so that was just more food for us.( Ps:I have three brothers.) Then, we went to this giant church and went in an elevator to the top of the church. When we were at the top, the camera started losing battery so I took my final pictures and went back down the stairs. After all that flying I was pretty tired so I got carried by my parents for half the time on the walk back to the baggage storage. It was a cold walk back to the baggage storage. When we got there we had some bathroom breaks.
As we drove through Iceland with our luggage to our airbnb we saw a lot of fabulous houses and smelled lots of amazing food and pastries. We finally found the house and walked up the steps. It was a three room house with a big kitchen and two bedrooms, there was a tv in front of the thunder storm gray colored couch. We got our iPads set up and took a 4 hour nap. When I woke up I thought it’s a new day so I said, “hey isn’t it a new day.” “Nope,” said my dad. After we all woke up we plopped on the couch and watched the Olympics. “Ooo ahh” we said. After the Olympics we played on our iPads. Then we went to the library where I looked for a book and found a book called bunny suicide. I’d looked all over for another book and when I found one it was in Icelandic but it was dogman so I knew all the words. When I finished reading I played chess against my mom and she absolutely destroyed me. Afterwards, we went to a park and played. I went on a spinning thingy then I went on a swing and swung when I looked to my left I saw a seesaw that my brother was rizzing on. Next me and my mom went to watch the sunset. As we went we saw the water thrashing against the rocks. We struggled to get over the rocks but we did it. We also talked to my cousins on the phone who were back in Maryland. “isn’t it beautiful?” said my mom. “It's cool,” I said with a shrug. Then, we went home and slept.
The tour: The next day my brother was sick and threw up a bajillion times so he had to stay home and couldn’t go with us on the tour. The tour was an 8 hour tour with incredible waterfalls and geysers , young moss that was so bouncy, smooth and fun, and a crater that was a bajillion feet tall. We first went to the moss and I had never felt anything like it. Next we went to the geysers that were at the front of the spectacularness and the waterfalls were in the back. The geysers didn’t throw up much. But the waterfall was unbelievable and if you got hit you would go straight to the emergency office!!!!!!!!!! We headed back to the bus to go to the next stop. (We drove in a bus). The next stop was a crater. We went down the stairs and to the humongous and breathtaking we climbed. It was a bit of a struggle for my little brother. After, we went home and chilled.
